Hey there! We love that you're interested in adding your voice to this conversation of building a creative business and we can't wait to hear your ideas. Before you send us your pitch, here are a few of the things we're looking for.
Ideally, IC Contributors will:
- Write a minimum of four guest blog posts that form a cohesive series around a specific topic. Why four? Because we like to take a subject and give our readers time to digest it. Four posts allows us to look at a subject over a month and get a real dialogue going. If you want to do a longer series, let's talk, but at a miniumum we are interested in creating a series we can all sink our teeth into.
Topics of interest include: design, personal development, financial management, branding, photography, selling, marketing, product development, social media, building community, PR and other subject that people can use to build their creative businesses.
- Create posts that are useful, practical and are of value to our community. This means that you should consider taking your subject and presenting it in a way that readers can put your advice to work immediately. Your post should be something that will inspire them to action in building their creative business.
- Be authentic. Speak from your own experience and with your own voice.
- Gain something from the experience. Writing, blogging, and networking in this digital environment is a transformative opportunity. Not only are you doing this for readers, but we'd like to see this happen for you as well. Whether it comes in the form of a new conversation, more visibility for you, or new ideas and opportunities to build your own business.
- Engage with readers. Once your posts are published, we expect that you'll stick around to answer questions and comments, follow up your post with tweets, and add depth to the post with more discussion.
- Add interest with multi-media content like images, video, audio and links. After all, these are creative people we're talking to.
- Enjoy the process. We didn't say this would be easy, but it should be fun.
Here's what we'll do:
- Add you to our IC Contributor list.
- Put you on our Facebook page.
- Promote your post and the ensuing conversation through the blog, Twitter and discussion on Facebook.
- Consider building your series into a joint venture opportunity. Past contributors are now working with us to develop things like e-courses and online training programs. This is why it's so important that your idea add value ... because we want to provide useful and helpful resources to our community. We need to do this to fulfill our mission of sharing resources that people can use to build viable and lucrative creative businesses (and guess what - that includes supporting you as you build yours).
So, if you can commit to all of that, we'd love to hear from you. Send us an email and tell us what you've got.
